What has Twitter ever done for me?

By October 23, 2011No Comments

In the last few weeks at Editing Edge we’ve been making a big effort to bump up our Twitter activity and yes, as everyone predicted, we’ve been reaping the rewards.

There have been funny moments. Our new followers include someone who Tweets entirely in Portuguese and a couple of shady-looking women posing in bikinis.

On the other hand we’ve made friends in Australia and chatted with people from Yorkshire to West Wales.

We’ve made contact with new customers, shared jokes and featured in daily news round-ups.

We’ve been thrown into gloom by Twitter experts advising us we need to be funny and spontaneous … then found it isn’t so hard once you try! (Trying to be spontaneous, that needs practice …)

Oddball news we’ve picked up has been ReTweeted, such as the fact that the world’s population will hit 7 billion on 31 Oct, Libya’s new regime says men can now have as many wives as they like, and 50s bombshell Jayne Mansfield could speak 5 languages.

We’ve strugged with # tags and sent a light-hearted quip about drinking to the serious folks at LinkedIn by mistake. But we’ve also been able to help a pal schedule Tweets in advance and post our own regular tips and hints.

So what has Twitter ever done for us? Cheered our business life immeasurably, that’s what!

And if you know someone still yet to take the plunge, pass this on … we can’t recommend social media highly enough.
